Know the Company that does your Refinishing…
With the current standards set by OSHA and the Department of Natural Resources concerning Methylene Chloride stripper, oil-base stain, lacquer, varnish, polyurethane and paint, safety is the #1 concern in our work place.
OSHA has determined that exposure levels of methylene chloride may not exceed 25 ppm (parts per million), which is a drastic change from 500 ppm two years ago.
Here at Pioneer Refinishing we comply with all the health and safety laws to keep us an environmentally safe work place. The following is a list of how we work to comply with these laws.
Methylene Chloride
- In order to conform to current levels, it is required by law that all employees coming in contact with Methylene Chloride, MUST be supplied with fresh air hoods and a constant supply of fresh air at all times. This will bring the exposure level down to zero.
- After a pew is stripped and hand dried, the levels of exposure are still five times higher than allowed which means a separate drying room has to be used until levels are brought back to zero.
As you can see, with these new standards, refinishing church pews is impossible to do on site.
Finishes
All employees are required to wear charcoal cartridge masks during all finish procedures.
Waste Management
The Department of Natural Resources requires a constant record of every product disposed of. Pioneer Refinishing has every Manifest and Certificate of Destruction since the day we opened.
Pioneer Refinishing prides itself in the safety procedures used for employees health. We urge you to take the time to come and see our facilities. No one in the pew refinishing business can compare.
